Tile layouts
In brief
The app offers 90 layouts, each with 144 tiles, ranging from 3 to 7 layers. The filter in the New Game window groups them into Easy (26), Medium (43) and Hard (21), based on the height of the tallest stack.
Choosing a layout
In the New Game window, the Layout section shows a gallery of thumbnails that can be filtered by All, Easy, Medium and Hard. The Random checkbox selects a layout at random. On phones, the app only offers layouts whose tiles remain large enough for the screen; on tablets, all layouts are available.
The three filter categories
- Easy: 3 layers, 26 layouts.
- Medium: 4 layers, 43 layouts.
- Hard: 5 to 7 layers, 21 layouts.
The number of free tiles at the start ranges from 10 to 78 depending on the layout: the fewer there are, the fewer choices you have on the first move.
